Both course options are suitable for everyone; they cover the same material, but with a different focus.
- Option 1 is a great choice for anyone new to the ASHRAE Commissioning Process (CxP), and it covers more about the purpose of commissioning, why the CxP starts in pre-design, the CxP tasks, and the costs/benefits. This course is aimed toward building owners and commissioning authorities (CxAs), and is great choice for anyone wanting extra focus on any of the elective topics.
- Option 2 doesn’t spend as much time on the purpose or benefits – instead it spends more time on how to do each CxP task, with daily workshops and more interactive sessions (such as writing checklists, performing some test procedures, etc.) This course was written by the Building Commissioning Association to train CxAs, although it is often attended by other team members who want to learn the CxA’s role.
- Commissioning authorities (CxA’s)
- Commissioning process managers
- Project managers
- Facility owners
- Facility managers
- Facility operating and maintenance staff
- Architects, engineers, contractors, and related project team members who are implementing the commissioning process or working with CxA’s
- Individuals with backgrounds in design, construction, project management, mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems, QA/QC, or related fields who are (or will be) implementing the commissioning process
