Course Overview

Starting in June 2025, this course, and other courses related to cross-connection control and backflow prevention, are being offered in partnership with Madison Area Technical College (Madison College). We will provide the same high quality training, but Madison College will be handling course registration and course coordination. Learn the requirements ato fulfill backflow prevention tester training. Attendees will get hands-on sessions with test and repair backflow prevention. Understand the hazards of cross-connection and backflow hazards.

Who Should Attend?

Practical training for plumbers, sprinkler fitters, facility maintenance personnel, and utility workers focusing on procedures for cross-connection control, backflow prevention, and testing of backflow prevention assemblies.

Additional Information

Fulfill Registration and Certification Requirements 
Participation in this course and successful completion of the hands-on and written examinations qualifies for 40 professional development hours (PDH) or 4.0 continuing education units (CEU). 
 
Wisconsin: Successful completion of the Cross-Connection Control and Backflow Prevention course and exam fulfills the training requirements in Wisconsin for Cross-Connection Control Tester registration and is also approved for 40 Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services continuing education hours for many plumbing and fire sprinkler related credentials.

Minnesota and Michigan: ASSE certification is required. To earn ASSE Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certification, you must register for the ASSE Backflow Tester Course

Benjamin J. Jordan, PE, is a program director with Interdisciplinary Professional Programs in the transportation sector. He has over 35 years of experience in civil engineering and public works. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and a Master of Public Affairs degree with a Certificate in Public Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois.
