
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Online Engineering Graduate Programs is proud to announce Jeremy Williams, an alumnus of the Master of Engineering in Polymer Engineering (MEPE) program, as the recipient of the Wayne Pferdehirt Service Award, recognizing his outstanding service, leadership, and continued commitment to advancing the Interdisciplinary Professional programs community.
This award celebrates the legacy of Wayne Pferdehirt, a visionary faculty associate and program director whose passion for engineering excellence, student support, and community building left a lasting impact on generations of learners. Wayne’s dedication to student success and his contagious enthusiasm helped shape the growth and reputation of online engineering education at UW-Madison. The award honors alumni of UW-Madison’s online engineering master’s programs who exemplify the spirit of giving back through mentorship, engagement, and service.
Jeremy graduated from the MEPE program in 2024. Since his time as a student, he has served as an enthusiastic ambassador for the program, sharing his experiences with prospective students and industry professionals. Through his advocacy and outreach, he has encouraged several students to enroll and help further their own careers.
“I am honored to receive the Wayne Pferdehirt Service Award. Wayne paved the way for access to quality distance learning at UW-Madison, something that I am deeply grateful for as I continue doing my best to represent engineers from UW-Madison,” Jeremy said.
Jeremy has also played an important role in building connections between industry and UW-Madison. He facilitated engagement opportunities with Eastman Chemical and continues to support collaborations through his current employer, GOEX. He has consistently volunteered his time to support the program, including participating in industry outreach and serving as a resource for students and faculty.
Known for his willingness to help, Jeremy is a mentor to both young professionals and fellow MEPE students. His commitment to supporting others and strengthening the connection between the plastics industry and the MEPE program reflects the values embodied by Wayne Pferdehirt.
