The University of Wisconsin–Madison’s College of Engineering has established the Wayne Pferdehirt Scholarship Fund to honor the legacy of Wayne Pferdehirt, a visionary faculty associate and long-serving director of the online engineering management master’s degree (MEM).

The scholarship reflects Wayne’s passion for mentorship, service, and empowering working professionals through engineering education. Made possible by the generosity of donors to the fund, the scholarship supports graduate students in the Master of Science in Engineering Management program who demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring others and community engagement.

“This fund continues Wayne’s lifelong mission of equipping engineers not just with technical knowledge, but with the leadership skills to make a difference in their communities,” said Heather Smith, Director of Online Graduate Programs and MEM Program Director.

Up to three $2500 scholarships will be awarded each semester. The fund is open to both current and prospective students, with application available through the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH).
