Role Overview:
As an Adjunct Instructor, you’ll play a vital role in updating two courses for the fall semester and then teaching those courses. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with us to develop and teach new courses. Your contributions will directly impact our students’ learning experience.
This role is 100% remote and flexible. You can define the course meeting times; most of our students prefer evening course meeting times because they are practicing engineers working full time.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching Excellence: Deliver engaging and informative education to graduate students. Foster critical thinking and practical application of advanced topics. Identified courses include Electrified Powertrain Systems and Batteries for Electrified Vehicles.
- Curriculum Development: Refine course content to align with industry trends and best practices in electrified powertrain systems and battery technologies.
- Industry Engagement: Establish partnerships with automotive, off-highway vehicle, aerospace, and associated sub-system companies. Understand their needs and enhance our program accordingly.
- Program Expansion: Shape future course curriculum based on industry demands, including specialized credentials in subcomponents like battery technology.

Qualifications:
Education:
- An undergraduate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field such as chemical engineering or systems engineering.
- A related engineering master’s degree.
- A PhD is preferred but not required.

Overview of expected work and compensation:
Summer 2024:
- Update the existing curriculum currently used in these courses to your teaching style and to improve the students’ learning outcomes:
- Electrified Powertrain Systems
- Batteries for Electrified Vehicles
- Minimum $10K
Fall 2024:
- Teach EPD 620 Electrified Powertrain Systems (2 credits)
- Teach EPD 621 Batteries for Electrified Vehicles (2 credits)
- Minimum $20K
Spring 2025:
- Develop future course(s) – in the future, these developed courses can be taught in the summer or spring semesters.
- If interested, you may be able to teach in-person or remote short course sessions in your knowledge area.
