Become an Accredited Commissioning Process Provider with a commissioning certification from UW-Madison. Gain a marketable, independently-recognized certification to highlight your knowledge of the ASHRAE Commissioning Process.
Why UW?
The UW–Madison Commissioning Process certifications provide the opportunity for individuals with varying levels of professional experience to gain recognition. This feature, in addition to the focus on the full ASHRAE Commissioning Process, creates an opportunity for individuals to distinguish their capabilities and highlight their unique career paths.
Earn the Qualified Commissioning Process Provider (QCxP) certification upon successful completion of the coursework and exam. Additional certifications are available to those with project experience who currently hold the QCxP. Full information on the University of Wisconsin commissioning certifications is available here.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who has completed the required coursework may sign up to take the examination.

Joy Altwies
Joy Altwies, PhD, PE, LEED AP+, is a program director for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Office of Interdisciplinary Professional Programs. Since 2004, Dr. Altwies has developed and taught continuing education courses emphasizing high performance building design and construction, mechanical system design and operation, energy efficiency, and commissioning. She is also program director of the Master of Sustainable Systems Engineering (SSE) degree program and an instructor of two graduate courses in the program.

In-person Attendance Option
In-person exam from 8:00 AM-11:00 AM Central Time on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in Madison, WI
Online Attendance Option
Online exam is available from May 6, 2023 (8:00 AM CT) to May 17, 2023 (11:59 PM CT)
Course Notes
All exam registrants should complete the setup process to access the online exam review website. You will have the option to take the examination online during the listed date range, OR via a paper examination in-person at the course location on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 8 AM to 11 AM Central time. To take the paper exam, you must opt-in by selecting the in-person exam option on the registration page. Registration to the online website is required for both options.
If you opt for the paper examination, you must bring an internet-enabled device (such as computer, tablet, or smartphone) to access the online review content during the days leading up to the paper exam.
