Course Overview
This course introduces the key components and concepts behind electrically powered rail systems, including traction power systems and overhead contact systems. Learners will explore power feeding schemes, pantograph interfaces, and the differences between AC and DC OCS components. With access to course materials, instructor support, and a certificate for 2 PDHs, this course is a valuable first step into the world of rail electrification.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the roles and differences between traction power systems and overhead contact systems.
- Identify key components, configurations, and operational considerations of OCS infrastructure.
- Explain the interface between pantographs and OCS, and distinguish between AC and DC system components.
Who Should Attend?
- Engineers and technicians new to rail electrification or transitioning into traction power roles.
- Professionals preparing to take the full 2-day Fundamentals of Traction Power Systems and OCS course.
- Project managers, planners, or consultants seeking a high-level understanding of electric rail systems.
Additional Information
It is highly encouraged you take this course before the 2-day “Fundamentals” course.
