Travis is a mechanical engineer and design thinking strategist at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL). He acts as an innovation catalyzer, facilitating project teams across the JHU/APL spectrum through a variety of initiatives, training sessions, and tailored workshops aimed at fostering creative problem-solving and strategic innovation.

Travis earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, followed by a Master’s Degree in the same field from Johns Hopkins University. He has also obtained full certification as a Human-Centered Design Instructor and Facilitator from the LUMA Institute. Over the past five years, Travis has taught design thinking methodologies at JHU/APL, emphasizing the practical application of these principles to solve complex problems.

As part of the UW-Madison’s Master of Science in Engineering Management program, Travis teaches ways to leverage design thinking techniques to create breakthrough innovations.
