We’re delighted to welcome Zhe Hu to the InterPro team as a financial specialist! In this interview, Zhe shares about her job, her background, and her interests.
What was your background before coming to UW-Madison?
I am from China originally, and I have my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting. I worked as financial staff at United Way for one year, and after that, I had my own e-commerce business for three years while taking care of my kids at home.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
The chance to work with professionals and elites in engineering and be exposed to the popular topics in the engineering industry. You feel you stand in the frontier of the engineering field. I also enjoy the friendly and inclusive work environment.
What’s something interesting or surprising about your job or field that most people might not know?
There are updates in accounting and financial systems once in a while and this makes the accounting position interesting and fun. Every day there is something new to learn.
Why might you encourage someone to pursue professional development or an online master’s degree with InterPro?
It is important to keep learning throughout your life. Getting an online master’s degree gives you the flexibility to study while working. The skills and knowledge that you learn give you the opportunity to advance your career and increase your pay. The chance to meet outstanding peers will enrich you and bring your life to a new altitude.
What’s your favorite book, movie, or tv show, and why?
My favorite movie is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The story is mysterious and touching which makes it unforgettable.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I love to travel and I have been to eight countries on six continents.
